Two Years in Business: A Journey of Growth and Gratitude - Thoughts from a Professional Organizer

Starting KAS KONCEPTS has been an incredible journey—one filled with challenges, triumphs, and unforgettable moments. As I reflect on these first two years as a Professional Organizer, I can confidently say the experience has shaped me in ways I never anticipated.

Facing Rejection and Self-Doubt

Starting a business was daunting. I knew nothing about entrepreneurship, and every single step felt like an uphill battle. From registering the business to designing a website and figuring out marketing, there were countless obstacles. Rejection became a frequent visitor, and imposter syndrome was a constant shadow. Doubting myself was nearly a daily occurrence—wondering if I was good enough, if I had what it took, and if this dream was even possible - I am learning to trust myself and the process, and accepting that hearing the words NO is just part of entrepreneurship.

The Power of Community

One of the most impactful lessons I learned was the value of finding a community of like-minded people. Surrounding myself with other entrepreneurs and professional organizers gave me not only practical advice, but also the encouragement I desperately needed to keep pushing forward. This network reminded me that the struggles I faced were normal and that success was still possible. A shout out to the Professional Organizers in Canada and the opportunities I have been provided with to learn and grow from them 😄

Showing Up and Putting Myself Out There

Putting myself out there was one of the hardest parts, and still is. Creating a website, optimizing for Google searches, and maintaining a social media presence felt overwhelming. But I knew visibility was crucial, and stepping outside my comfort zone became a non-negotiable part of the process. The vulnerability of promoting myself feels uncomfortable, but each step forward brings new opportunities and connections.

Financial Insecurity and Sacrifices

Starting a business also meant facing financial uncertainty. Letting go of stable income, benefits, and pensions was terrifying, I had a very secure job prior to this! There were and still are, moments of deep anxiety, wondering if I can sustain this dream. But through careful planning, perseverance, and a belief in the value of what I offer, I am making it work!

The Physical Side of Organizing

Being a professional organizer is incredibly physical. Lifting, sorting, and rearranging spaces requires stamina and strength. It's demanding, but also incredibly rewarding. I appreciate the balance more when I have an admin or CEO day working on my laptop in a coffee shop (I frequent the Wortley Locomotive Espresso!) or my cozy at home office. Maintaining a regular workout routine and daily stretching and yoga makes all the difference!

The Rewarding Moments

Despite the challenges, I wouldn’t change a thing. The rewards far outweigh the struggles. The hugs and smiles at the end of a successful project, the shared laughs and sometimes tears, and the proud moments when a client takes a brave step forward are invaluable. Even something as simple as making the call to ask for help is a courageous act, and I never take that lightly.

The variety and challenge that each client brings keeps me engaged and motivated. Seeing firsthand the positive impact my work has on people's lives is deeply fulfilling. Each project brings new lessons, and I've grown tremendously in my ability to listen, communicate, and accept feedback.

Looking Ahead to Year Three

As I step into my third year, I'm filled with excitement. I have big plans for KAS KONCEPTS and can't wait to continue growing, learning, and helping more people reclaim control over their spaces and lives.

To everyone who has supported me on this journey—thank you. KAS KONCEPTS wouldn’t be where it is today without you, and I am forever grateful.

Here's to the next chapter and all the incredible moments yet to come!

Thank you for reading!
