 Tis the season - to start early!!!

What can I do now to make my life easier in one of the busiest seasons? Start early! 


If you celebrate over the December holidays, then you know it is inevitable that this season will come, and it always comes so fast! One minute it is summer, then it is back to school and before you know it, Christmas carols are playing in the stores. 


Do you tell yourself every year that you will not be last minute this time and that you will plan early so you can actually enjoy the season? Have you made this happen yet, or do you fall further behind every year? Maybe you are getting closer each year to achieving your goal of preparing early! Regardless, you can make this happen. Here is how: 


  • Stop reinventing the wheel each year - if you buy gifts or send cards - have a list of the people you do this for and edit it each year by either adding or removing people to keep it up to date. 
  • Have their addresses on the card list and if they ever send you updates, make the change right away! 
  • Set a budget - overall and roughly for each person.
  • Shop through the year to spread the costs and take advantage of the sales!
  • When you are with someone you buy for - pay attention for ideas for gifts, that way you can get them something they use and is useful to them.
  • Save things that will be useful for gift wrap so you can reuse it! Have a designated place for your gift wrap, and keep what you collect within this place. Don't go over the space you have allocated, and if you do, it is time to declutter!
  • Write a to-do list for the holiday season - things you need to do, food you need to prepare, events that are set, and things you hope to do. Put them in the calendar and create time blocks to get your to-do list done and treat them like work or appointments!
  • Set a time to go through what you do have to declutter, clean up and take inventory of what you do need. 

Whether you go big or small - following these tips will help you ease the burden of the busy season, spread it out and ultimately, creating time and space for the things you do love.

What is your Why?? This is a big question - in everything we do, and in this scenario - Organizing!!! Everyone will have their own answers, which is technically the right answer, in my opinion anyway 😉 Find your Why …before you even think about starting your organizing journey.   Is Your Schedule To Full??? Thoughts from a Professional Organizer and How To Do Less Guilty over here! Do you open your calendar and see something scheduled for every day for the rest of 2024 and beyond? How does this make you feel? Stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, exhausted? Or a nice big blend of it all?
