I’m Moving, Again… Thoughts From a Professional Organizer

Truth be told, I’ve probably lost track of how many times I’ve moved in my 42 years. I’ve always been a little in awe of people who say their parents still live in their childhood home - who can go back and sleep in the same bedroom they grew up in. That idea feels wild to me. And also incredibly comforting. But that has never been my reality. My version of normal is movement. New homes, new cities, sometimes even new countries. Starting from scratch more times than most people can imagine. And while that might sound exhausting to some, it’s simply the life I know. Most of my moves have felt like the next right thing . Some, especially in childhood, weren’t my choice. But once I was old enough to decide for myself, my moves were driven by school, work, and the pull of new adventures. Along the way, I realized something important: I can make almost anywhere feel like home. Which surprises people - because despite all the moving, I’m actually a bit of a homebody.
